The Father is more interested in developing your character in Him than in filling your needs. This does not mean that He is unconcerned about your welfare. He cares about the sparrows that fall, and knows every single hair on your head. However, His purpose for you is to bring you back to your original glory – to be His manifested image here on the earth.
The only way that you can accomplish that is to know the One in whose image you were created; not knowing Him for what He does, but knowing Him for Who He is, how He thinks.

Moses, however, came to know God personally. He had an intimate relationship with the Lord, and spent much time with Him. Scripture tells us that after spending 40 days and nights in the presence of the Lord he returned to his people and his face shone with the glory of God, so much so that he had to put a veil over it.
When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tables of the Testimony in his hand, he did not know that the skin of his face shone and sent forth beams by reason of his speaking with the Lord. Exodus 34:29
Moses experienced first-hand all the miracles that God did for the Israelites, but he got so much more....he got to know His God!
God will have no other gods before Him, and that includes your challenging situation. Don't allow your trouble to so consume you that it is the first thing you think about upon awakening, the last thing you think about before falling asleep and it crops up in your mind throughout the day. It could become a god, erecting an altar or worry, fear and unbelief in your mind....and it brings you no closer to the One who is the Answer.
Don’t circulate in your frustration, crying out to the LORD for His acts, while ignoring Him. Lay the challenge aside and go after Him for who He is. Then watch Him show you Himself in all His glory. Watch Him lovingly impart more of Himself to you. Watch Him give you the understanding and the knowledge of how to handle that dilemma you are faced with.
Thanks for this lesson about faith in the wilderness. Good biblical lesson.
ReplyDeleteI've meditated on this...the loving Him for Him and not as a supplier of my demands. Thanks for the reminder to build my relationship on Him alone. Have a , great week! Visiting from Hear it Sunday, Use it on Monday!
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful thought, "Loving Him for Him and not as a supplier of my demands." I'll be thinking about that (and the story of the Israelites grumbling demands today!)
DeleteWow, this is great post! Thank you for sharing with us here at "Tell Me a Story." Even through selfishness, God is willing to reach out and take care of us. May we be so close to HIM that our face will shine!
ReplyDeleteGetting right to the crux of the matter! I'm challenged. "Man shall not live by bread alone...." I'm right there and your reminder is coming through loud and clear.LMM
ReplyDeleteThis was an inspired word! Yes, I have been so guilty of seeking God's relief, instead of His revelation. But you're so right - in that, I am behaving like the Israelites. And if I hang on to my trouble, I will miss the Prince of Peace.
ReplyDeleteThough I might want relief, what I really want is more of Him. And sometimes that only happens in the middle of the storm, when all I can hold on to is The One Who Walks On Water.
GOD BLESS!
This is awesome and so true to the Word; no matter how much we think we receive we need more of Him daily for He truly wants us to be more like Him. Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteWhat an important post for my life today. A perspective change that I need some knee time to process. Thank you for your words of encouragement that lead me straight back to the heart of God! Blessings! Love, Rachael @ inking the Heart
ReplyDeleteLove the challenge! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Dawn
Such a powerful message. I know I fall victim to praying but not simply getting to know Him and allowing him to do His work.
ReplyDelete"The Father is more interested in developing your character in Him than in filling your needs." - Thanks for that reminder!
ReplyDeleteNo matter what's going on with us. He is always there. The Holy Spirit speaks to us and teaches us what to do. Thanks for reminding us this !

Very well stated, I know it's easier to say than to do often, but it doesn't have to me.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you shared this with Cozy Reading Spot.
