BLESSED ARE THE MEEK

Thanks to Allison Sylvester-Conliffe for this article

Jesus said in Matthew 5:5,
"Blessed are the meek; for they shall inherit the earth."

This statement means that the humble persons (the persons that walk with God and in obedience to his will) will have divine favour on the job, divine favour with men, divine favour in business dealings etc. while they live on the earth.

While we live on the earth as believers, we are supposed to live in the supernatural, which is different from life as it is in the natural.  To live in the supernatural is to live according to the Word of God.  Very often this goes against what our rational thinking would tell us.  God is supernatural and therefore his Word is also supernatural. We are to read His Word, study it and make it become so much a part of us that we live out what it says.

Matthew 5 - The Beatitudes, Romans 12 - about the Body of Christ and 1 Corinthians 13 - The Love Chapter are just a few key Scriptures to help us to begin walking in the supernatural.

If we live according to the dictates of the Scriptures, then we would indeed bring the kingdom on earth as a likeness of what the Kingdom is in Heaven.

  1. I long to live humbly and I know I cannot without the Spirit's enabling. It is supernatural grace to truly live with humility. Blessings to you. Linked up behind you at Laura's blog.

  2. I love reading the Beatitudes! I remember memorizing them as a teenager and the words have blessed and encouraged me over the years! Meekness is definitely not encouraged in our day and age...but God puts much importance on how we should show meekness, having a quiet nature and submissiveness to God.
    Blessings!

  5. Thank you for sharing at "Tell Me a Story." I agree with your post that our daily steps should be with devine favor from God. Yes, it is as we humble ourselves before God that we can receive the supernatural. The steps of a righteous person are ordered of the Lord, and our righteousness is because of Jesus.

  6. So true...living in the supernatural so often goes against what logic might tell us! This makes me think of the disciples and how radical their faith was. How even when offered a boat filled with fish..they walked away to follow Jesus. Oh how they knew where the prize was, their joy was, their salvation came from! Such an inspiration, friend!

  7. This is so true...it is a battle sometimes to surrender our own rationale to adopt a more heavenly mindset. It takes great meekness...especially when those around you don't understand. But the rewards are immeasurable. Thank you for linking up with A Little R & R Wednesdays!

  8. I liked what you said that as believers we are to live supernaturally in the natural. We are to walk in the Spirit, humbly, meekly. Thank you for sharing this over at WholeHearted Wednesdays last week.

  9. Living in accordance with God's word most certainly does go against the natural inclinations. Be we are called to it anyway. Thank you for such an excellent offering and for linking it up last week at Walking Redeemed.
