In Hot Pursuit

There is a difference between going after God for something and going after God for God. The pursuit of God, especially in the midst of a tumultuous situation, should not be for the resolution of the thing, but for the increased knowledge and understanding of the One who trusted you with the situation in the first place. Yes, God trusts you with trouble!

In your single-minded pursuit of Him, God imparts to you an uncommon wisdom – a subtle knowing that empowers you to discern rightly and decide correctly. His wisdom becomes enlarged in you and the wisdom of God in you then causes first a change in you, then a change in your environment.

The Father is more interested in developing your character in Him than in filling your needs. His purpose for you is to bring you back to your original glory – to be His manifested image here on the earth. The only way that you can accomplish that is to know the One in whose image you were created; not knowing Him for what He does, but knowing Him for Who He is, how He thinks.

Do not be tempted to pray to God to relieve you of the stresses that challenge you. This is what the Israelites did under Moses’ leadership in the desert. They felt uncomfortable in their bodies and souls and they cried out for relief. God answered always, but not with Himself. They received the things that He had without ever receiving the Person that He is. As a result the children of Israel for the most part never really got to know the God of their salvation, and they wandered unnecessarily in the desert, circulating around the mountain.

God will have no other gods before Him, and that includes your challenging situation. Don’t circulate in your frustration, crying out to the LORD for His acts, while ignoring Him. Lay the challenge aside and go after Him with all you’ve got. Then watch Him show you Himself in all His glory. Watch Him lovingly impart more of Himself to you. You then gain in two ways – the Christ in you is enlarged and the wisdom of God in you gives you the peace, the understanding and the knowledge of how to handle any situation you are faced with.

Common Sense or Uncommon Wisdom?

The dictionary definition of common sense is “sound practical judgment .....; normal native intelligence.”

How, then, does common sense fit in to the Kingdom of God? The answer – it doesn’t. I have learned that just about everything that we accept as normal in the world is abnormal for the Kingdom.

By its very definition common sense does not require exercising of faith in God. In this new dispensation God is requiring that we abandon what the majority would deem to be common sense – not in favor of abject foolishness, but rather in pursuit and apprehension of those things that lie beyond what common sense can afford us.

In this Kingdom age creation is groaning more and more loudly for the manifestation of the sons of God. We ourselves groan inwardly. We desire to be what we were originally created to be – the image of God on the earth. The reality is that God never uses common sense. It is by wisdom that He formed the earth.

Wisdom is supreme, not common sense. I believe that wisdom is supernatural intelligence. It is the divine ability to know what God has already declared, and then act on it regardless of what your ‘common senses’ – sight, smell, touch, taste and hearing – tell you.

God is requiring that His true sons abandon what the world calls common sense and tap into the wisdom that only He provides. It is a bold step of faith, because some of the things that He will require of us will make no sense to onlookers, and may even cause us to be ridiculed.

“For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence.” – 1 Corinthians 1:26-29.

Are you willing to make the sacrifice and be a “fool” for God?

Made in His Image

God is known by many names, each one revealing one of His unique characteristics. He is Elohim – the Creator, and it is Elohim who said, “Let Us make man in Our image.” – Genesis 1:26. In other words God said, “Let’s make man just like Us.” Just think about that for a moment. The Creator created us to create! Just as His actions create, so do ours.

All around you will see evidence of the Spirit of Elohim at work through the minds and hands of man: the computer that generated this message was created by someone; the chair you’re sitting on; your bed, clothing, toothpaste, dinnerware, books – and the list goes on and on!!! Just stop reading this for a moment, look around the room and see elohims’ (mankind’s) creations. Awesome!!!!

Even the movies and TV shows you watch are evidence of the Spirit of Elohim in man. I can hear some of you protesting, “But so many of those shows are ungodly!” True. But when God spoke that word back in the beginning He didn’t say, “Let’s make the saved folk in Our image and let the rest fend for themselves”! He placed His image – His character – in all mankind, and God never changed His mind. People who do and say things that are destructive simply don’t understand who they are and Whose they are!

The ability to create through your words and your actions is an awesome power that carries with it an equally awesome responsibility. You are responsible for the quality of what you create.

From now on, every time you prepare a meal, write a letter, draw a picture, choose an outfit to wear – every time you create something - remember that it is Elohim in you at work!

Let’s all do what we were placed on this earth to do. Let us create, in word or in deed, something wonderful today!

Reality or Just Reflection?

Picture this. You are sitting on the dock of a lake, looking over into the water at your reflection. You, in your position on the dock, are the truth; the image of yourself in the water is only a reflection of the truth you see, so it is not truth in itself but merely a fact.

Keep looking. There’s a gentle breeze that causes ripples on the water. Your reflection (the fact) becomes slightly distorted because of the outside forces. But you remain in your position above the water on the dock.

A boat on the lake speeds by sending waves in its wake. In the water you see yourself being tossed to and fro. But in reality you’re still in position above the circumstances.

The question is – do you live life according to what you see reflected, or do you live life from your God-ordained position? In God there is only one truth – you are seated above your circumstances. Facts are reflections of how you perceive your life. They are fickle and they change with the wind.

Live in the truth of who you are.
